Sat. 3/3 addendum: Pastor Krey orientation comments

Saturday morning, 8:30 found us bumping over the Santiago residential roads to the DR-Lutheran Mission offices for orientation.  Pastor Ted Krey walked across the street from his house, a stack of plastic chairs in hand, to welcome us.  He explained that the offices housed the Latin American LCMS Mission work as well as the DR-specific effort.  At the moment, they are hosting the FORO group, of partners and guiding entities for the DR mission.  The Keller construction aspect is seen as an avenue for building relationships with individuals and congregations to become partners in the mission, also.
Pastor Krey explained that their work is always focused around two emphases: Congregational growth and Works of mercy.  "Mercy is to care for needs with purpose and speak of Christ (witness).  Mercy without witness is mercy-less."  The mission aims to bring people fully into the church, where they receive Christ in stillness - none of our distractions.

Finally, Pastor Krey challenged us with three questions to consider (showing mercy, speaking of Christ):
1)  What more can be done where God has placed you?
   - your home, family, neighborhood, congregation
2)  How can you continue in relationship with what's going on with the DR mission?
  - prayer, funding, time & talents
3)  How can you become more involved in Mission (mercy/witness) in your home church?
  - encourage your pastor & leaders, local outreach & ministry, new church plants, etc.
Finally, Pastor encouraged us to be aware of what God is giving us from this experience; something learned or received, a joy or surprise.
Praise the Lord for the funding brought to the DR mission for buying property in Lisa!  Pray for the finding & buying of the property!
