Poor Jeanette! I had a frantic email from her this morning, asking if -PLEASE!- the information on our team form was wrong... I had the team flights listed as arriving & departing at the Santo Domingo airport - hours away from their current location! I quickly double-triple-checked & sent her peace of mind that we are in & out of the Santiago airport! phew!
How much in need of grace we stand! Not just for these perrenial mistakes, but much more for the actual rebellion & evil in our hearts. Perhaps it was the Ash Wednesday effects of the Word on my heart, but even earlier this morning, in reviewing Psalm 139, I was struck by a fresh awareness of my own wicked heart. Words that I had always taken as delivered against other folks of evil heart, I suddenly recognized as the old Adam in myself:
19 If only you would slay the wicked, O God! Away from me, you bloodthirsty men!
20 They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD, and abhor those who rise up against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies.
Yet, in all that Jesus has done for me & is doing in me - that gift of faith by His grace, I cling to His promise of redemption!
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
AMEN!
...to the Cross!
Happy Lent!

Matthew 28:19&20
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19&20
